With runs from the summit to all points on the compass, Hakuba Iwatake offers some of the best views in Hakuba, and on a good snow day, some of the very best runs.
The resort is split into 2 areas. Village side and Mountain Side. the Village Side is the slopes up from the Base Center, while the mountain side is all courses access by the Gondola.
At the summit there are wide open runs offering a view down over Hakuba Village, while over the back side are some deep powder courses, and tree runs galore.
There is also the “Nezuko no Mori”, Snow Shoe Course near the summit where you can get an introduction to Snow Shoeing.
Hakuba Mountain Harbor is a cafe at the summit that offers great coffee, and freshly baked bread. The views from the deck are spectacular on a fine day, with the 3,000m summits appearing right in front of your face.
Iwatake is not as big as Happo to the South, or Tsugaike Kogen to the North, but it is a resort that people keep coming back to time and time again.
