The Northern most resort in the Hakuba Valley, Cortina is located about 25km north of down town Hakuba. There is some access by shuttle bus, but having a car can make it much easier to get to.

The resort is operated by the Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba, the largest hotel in Hakuba Valley. The hotel itself is worth the trip as it is styled with a Tudor theme exterior. The buffets here are excellent value if you decide to stay for dinner. The Onsen hotel spring is also the largest in town and well worth trying out.

Being to the north of Hakuba, this resort generally gets more snow that the rest. It is a popular location with international visitors on powder days, as it offers some of the best conditions.

Skiing this resort can be classified into 3 types. On-piste, Off-Piste and Back Country.

The main valley area is a large beginners slope with a high speed quad lift. This feeds into 2 other lifts that take skiers to the ridge lines along the Northern and Southern side of the resort. And while there are open slopes to come down, many choose to dive into the trees and experience some of the best in-bound off-piste skiing in the world. There are also great views from the tops, especially the Northern side, where you can see down to the Japan sea on a fine day.

There are also 3 gates located on the Ski Resort Boundaries, allowing users access to some great back country terrain.

The resort has different rescue policies depending on the area you are in:

On Piste – Patrol services are free of charge
Off Piste – Rescues will require payment of a fee
Back Country – In general rescue services are not provided due to the risk posed to rescuers.

Hakuba Cortina shares a border with Hakuba Norikura Ski Resort, and combined tickets are available for a surcharge, or use the Hakuba Valley Lift Pass to access both resorts at no extra cost.
