The Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba is the largest Hotel in the Hakuba Valley and is located slope side at Cortina Ski Resort located in the very north of Hakuba Valley. This resort gets some of the lightest and deepest powder snow in Japan.

Like other hotels in the Green Plaza Chain, it has an old-England Tudor style design that would not look out of place back in the 15th century, albeit on a larger scale.

On entering the hotel you will encounter a very impressive 6 story lobby. There is a shop to your left, and to the right is the check in counter. After checking in, you can access your room via the elevators what have glass windows and look out over the lobby.

The main buffet restaurant is on the 3rd floor, with an a-la-carte cafe – restaurant on the ground floor also. The buffet here is one of the best we have come across, with an all you can drink option also as an extra.

The Green Plaza also boasts perhaps the best hot spring in town, with about 8 different baths including saunas and waterfalls to massage your shoulders located in the outdoor bathing area. The spa is a great way to soak away tired muscles after a long day on the slopes.

Rooms here are very large, and most have either a living area, or a Japanese style tatami at zone to stretch out in. The hotel facilities are a bit dated, but still very comfortable.

As this hotel is located quite far from downtown Hakuba, we recommend staying a few nights here, and then switching to another hotel in central Hakuba to fully enjoy everything Hakuba has to offer, or stay in downtown Hakuba first and them move out here for the last few nights. It is also worth noting that this hotel is very popular on weekends, so staying a few nights during the week is a much better option (cheaper and less crowded)
